STARTING DATES: Between September 2026 and January 2027, these experienced sailor/owners will be hiring a highly qualified Captain and Chef couple as the core team to run their brand new Oyster 885 launching at the end of this year. This yacht will eventually run with either 3-4 crew and is already signed up for the Oyster World Rally 2028 - A 16 month circumnavigation of the world starting in Antigua in January 2028.
Owner Expectations:
Having already built two Oysters, the owning couple know exactly what they are looking for in their next yacht and their crew team. The top three requirements for the Captain are:
- Experienced Captain of 80ft+ monohulls - Yacht master Ocean minimum.
- Proven Ocean sailing experience
- Excellent Engineering skills
The Chef will will be accustomed to life on board sailing yachts and be a competent watch keeper/team player. He/She will keep an organised and clean galley and be fully in charge of the provisioning, meal planning and providing a varied, healthy menu for owners and crew.
The plan:
This well specified new 885 is going to be handing over from the shipyard in March 2027. The owners and crew will spend this time cruising, getting to know the yacht and finalising any warranty snags around UK/Scandinavia. She will sail for the Mediterranean to cruise before preparing for the transatlantic crossing and the official start of the Oyster World Rally adventure.

Requirements
ARE YOU THE TEAM WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
Captain
- Yachtmaster Ocean or equivalent - Minimum
- Bluewater sailing experience as Captain
- AEC1&2 - Solid Engineering skills of 70+ft sailing/motor yachts
Chef
Minimum 2 seasons sailing experience
Charter yacht Chef, hi end restaurant or ski chalet experience.
Level 2 Hygiene
Both:
STCW/ENG 1
Strong monohull sailors with proven sailing background
