We are seeking an experienced Packaging & Logistics Engineer to play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations through the optimisation of material movement, storage, packaging, and logistics processes. Working within a manufacturing engineering environment, you will drive improvements across the supply chain, develop packaging solutions, support material flow strategies, and contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste. Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and maintenance of Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodologies and databases.
Develop, test, and implement packaging solutions for inbound materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
Design and introduce stillages and material handling solutions to improve space utilisation and part protection.
Collaborate closely with Materials Planning & Logistics teams to ensure safe and efficient packaging and transportation processes.
Develop and implement returnable packaging systems with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Drive standardisation of packaging specifications and supplier management activities.
Configure and optimise logistics systems, including Kanban replenishment, storage mapping, labelling standards, and lot sizing.
Monitor packaging inventory and ensure availability while minimising operational costs and space requirements.
Track logistics and packaging KPIs, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Support manufacturing operations through lean initiatives focused on waste reduction, material presentation, and workflow efficiency.
Provide logistics and manufacturing engineering input during product development and engineering change activities.
Create and maintain packaging specifications, material flow documentation, and ERP/BOM data accuracy. Based on information from
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree, HND, Higher Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience within a complex manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, or similar industrial environment.
Proven experience developing packaging solutions and optimising material flow processes.
Strong understanding of PFEP methodologies and lean manufacturing principles.
Experience using ERP systems, ideally including SAP.
Knowledge of Kanban systems, storage strategies, inventory control, and logistics optimisation.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Comfortable working on the shop floor and collaborating across multiple functions. Based on information from

Experience within defence, heavy engineering, vehicle manufacturing, or similarly regulated industries.
Experience working within international manufacturing organisations.
Advanced SAP logistics or manufacturing systems knowledge.
