Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join an independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Medway, Kent. This specialist setting supports children and young people with a range of communication and learning needs, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for students aged 6 to 21 years.

In this role, you will provide dedicated 1:1 speech and language therapy support to students, helping them develop their communication skills and achieve their full potential both academically and socially. You will also play a key role within the therapy team, working alongside two Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists and providing supervision and professional guidance to support their ongoing development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist who is passionate about paediatric therapy and enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Provide 1:1 speech and language therapy interventions for students aged 6–21 with a range of communication needs.
• Assess, diagnose, and develop tailored therapy plans to support students’ speech, language, and communication development.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams to ensure therapy strategies are embedded within the classroom environment.
• Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical guidance to two Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists.
• Monitor student progress and adapt interventions to meet individual needs.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and regulatory standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to education and care planning.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Experience working with children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs.
• Experience or confidence in providing supervision or guidance to junior therapists (desirable for Band 7 level).
• Strong communication, organisational, and collaborative working skills.
• A commitment to supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
