Paralegal

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented paralegal, to join our legal team. We sit as part of a wider group of businesses providing a commercial motor insurance offering, this an exciting opportunity to join the team within a newly created role, supporting our in-house solicitor within the DCL Group.

The ideal candidate will have gained some paralegal experience working within a similar role although, entry-level candidates will be considered. Excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential along with strong organisation and time management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the handling of litigated claims to include personal injury, credit hire and damage to vehicle.
• Work closely under the direction of the in-house solicitor to assist in all aspects of litigation including;

- Complying with all court deadlines and dates

- Assist in the drafting of documents including defences, witness statements and any applications

- Prepare trial bundles

- Assist in complying with court directions

• Work in conjunction with the claims company and in-house solicitor to manage the flow of new litigation in the most effective manner and provide a timely service.
• Assist with the maintenance of the litigation case management system and manage the production of reports and regular updates as required.
• Build and maintain a good relationship with the claims teams.
• Comply with all regulatory requirements as directed by the in-house solicitor.
• Build and maintain own knowledge and stay up to date with litigation practice.

Experience and Knowledge

• Basic understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and the Court process is essential.
• Knowledge of RTA claims including Credit Hire and Personal Injury is preferred.
• Solid technical approach with the capacity to learn litigation procedure.
• Experience of working on a management information system an advantage.
• Ability to work in a team and manage deadlines.
