I'm currently recruiting for a well established Law firm in Leamington Spa who is currently recruiting a law graduate to join them as a Paralegal in our Children & Families Public law department, to assist fee earners with a range of tasks to support our clients. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about Care Legal work and seeking a long term career in this area of Law.
Duties will include -
* Liaise with clients in person, via telephone and email
* Produce accurate detailed work to ensure excellence in legal services
* Maintain files and ensure efficient case management of care matters
* Draft any documentation in accordance with efficient file management including correspondence, briefs, court documentation, full attendance notes and statements of evidence
* Time record in accordance with the Firm’s policy and prepare bills as necessary
* Attend to clients at court with counsel
* Undertake typing work for fee earners as and when required
* Make appointments for clients
* Provide general administrative support as and when required
* Undertake any reasonable instructions made by Directors, Department Heads or Fee Earners within the limits of this job description
* Attend department meetings as required
The ideal person will have -
* Law degree and genuine interest in Care legal work
* Experience and knowledge of working in a Care department which deals with Legal Aid would be desirable
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Outlook and good keyboard skills
* Ability to work within quality and case management systems (e.g. Lexcel and Tikit)
* Dynamic in approach and uses initiative when dealing with clients or potential clients
* A positive approach to customer service
* A team player and flexible in approach
* Ability to deal with sensitive situations and difficult clients in a professional, confidential manner
* Sufficient knowledge of the legal process to understand the work being undertaken
* Experience of public funding procedures preferred
* Driving licence and use of own vehicle to be able to travel between offices, courts and stakeholder office essential
