Based within the Empower Contextual Safeguarding Team within the Central Area of Lancashire (Preston, Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire) the Parenting Support Practitioner, reporting to the Team Manager or Senior Social Worker, plays a crucial role in providing guidance, assistance, and practical support to parents or caregivers. This role aims to enhance parenting skills, strengthen family relationships, and promote the well-being and development of children. The Contextual Safeguarding Service works with families whereby children are experiencing harm outside of the family home.
As a Parenting Support Worker you would be supporting social workers within the team to undertake identified pieces of work, working directly with children and parents, to achieve change within families. The role requires you to record all sessions in an analytical way onto the child/ren’s LCS records. Attendance at group supervision is necessary as this informs work to be completed and reflect on how to achieve best outcomes for the child/ren.
