Overview

Our well-established Property client, based in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Financial Accountant to join their growing retail finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives on accuracy and wants to play a key role in maintaining strong financial control within a fast-paced corporate environment. As part of an evolving organisation, you'll build a thorough understanding of the wider business while ensuring compliance, improving reporting processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. You'll report directly to the Finance Manager and work closely with colleagues and operational leadership across multiple national sites.

As Financial Accountant, you will take ownership of preparing statutory accounts and financial statements in line with current standards, managing month-end and year-end reporting processes, and ensuring accurate reconciliations and balance sheet control. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the audit process, liaising with external auditors, and assisting with tax compliance and VAT submissions. Alongside this, you will partner with non-finance stakeholders to provide clear insight into financial performance, while proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen internal controls, streamline reporting, and enhance the overall efficiency of the finance function.

Skills Required

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA finalist or part-qualified, with strong financial accounting knowledge.
• Proven experience in preparing statutory accounts and supporting audits.
• Strong technical skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs; macros an advantage).
• A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with excellent attention to detail.
