Pastoral Assistant - Secondary School

Location: Wirral
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Temporary / Ongoing
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time

Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Pastoral Assistant to work within a secondary school on the Wirral. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting students' wellbeing, encouraging positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.

The Role

Provide pastoral support to students experiencing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted and approachable member of staff.
Support behaviour management and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
Work closely with teaching staff, the pastoral team and SEN staff to support students' individual needs.
Help monitor attendance, punctuality and student engagement.
Support students in developing confidence, resilience and positive social skills.
Assist with resolving conflicts and managing challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Promote safeguarding and ensure students' wellbeing remains a priority.

The Ideal Candidate

Has experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or similar setting.
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Is patient, approachable, resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour.
Can remain calm under pressure and use a positive, consistent approach.
Is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.
Understands the importance of safeguarding and student wellbeing.Experience in pastoral support, youth work, behaviour management, mentoring or SEN would be advantageous.
