Pastoral Lead Officer

Full-Time | Term Time Only | Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a secondary school to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Lead Officer to join their pastoral team.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, safeguarding students, and helping them overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with the Head of Year, you will play a vital role in ensuring students feel safe, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.

The Role:

Provide high-quality pastoral care and support to students across a designated year group
Act as a key point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding concerns
Support students on both an individual and small-group basis to address social, emotional, and behavioural needs
Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and uniform
Conduct restorative conversations and support behaviour management strategies
Organise and lead reintegration meetings following suspensions
Work closely with safeguarding staff to identify and support vulnerable students
Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to coordinate appropriate support and interventions
Maintain accurate records of pastoral interventions and student support plans
Support student wellbeing initiatives, mentoring programmes, and personal development activities
Assist with attendance monitoring and interventions to reduce barriers to education
Provide First Aid support following appropriate training

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral, youth work, or safeguarding setting
Be confident managing challenging situations and supporting students with behavioural, emotional, or attendance needs
Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Demonstrate strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Be resilient, empathetic, and able to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
