Role: Pastoral Mentor Location: West Yorkshire Type: Temporary - Full Time Rate: £16.50 - £18.50
Eden Brown Education is recruiting for a Pastoral Mentor on behalf of a well-established Further Education College in West Yorkshire.
This is a full time temporary role to start asap for at least 10 weeks.
Hours are Monday - Friday - 8:30am - 4:30pm with a 4:00pm finish on Fridays.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced student support professional, progress coach, mentor, youth worker or pastoral practitioner who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
You will provide dedicated pastoral support to a caseload of learners, delivering targeted one-to-one interventions and coaching to support attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, personal development and academic success.
Working closely with curriculum teams, safeguarding staff and external agencies, you will play a key role in supporting students who may be facing a range of personal, social or educational challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing pastoral support and mentoring to students across the college - Delivering targeted interventions to improve attendance, engagement and achievement - Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and progression - Monitoring student progress and contributing to review processes - Identifying safeguarding concerns and making appropriate referrals - Attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings where required - Liaising with parents, carers, curriculum staff and external support services - Signposting students to appropriate internal and external support provision - Maintaining accurate student records and intervention documentation - Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing and personal development
About You
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience supporting young people aged 14-19 within an educational, youth work or support setting - Experience delivering one-to-one mentoring, coaching or pastoral support - A strong understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing - Experience working with vulnerable, disengaged or hard-to-reach learners - Excellent communication and relationship-building skills - The ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders - Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent) - A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential
Experience of working with care-experienced learners, multi-agency teams, restorative practice or trauma-informed approaches is also required.
