Pastoral Support Worker – Bristol

Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Long-Term Role
£92–£105 per day | Immediate / September Start

We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Bristol seeking a Pastoral Support Worker to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a highly rewarding role focused on supporting students’ behaviour, wellbeing and emotional development, helping young people overcome barriers and re-engage with education.

About the Role

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work closely with students who may:

Experience social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
Struggle with behaviour and emotional regulation
Be disengaged from education or require additional support
Your focus will be on building strong relationships, promoting positive behaviour and supporting student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support
Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
Build trusting relationships with students
De-escalate situations using calm and consistent approaches
Support attendance, engagement and daily routines
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
Promote positive behaviour and resilience
Some pupils may present behaviours that challenge — this role requires confidence, patience and strong interpersonal skills.

Teaching Assistants with SEMH or behaviour experience
Graduates (Psychology, Criminology, Education)
You will be particularly suited if you:

Have strong behaviour management skills
Can remain calm under pressure
Build rapport with young people quickly
Are proactive and confident in your approach
