Pay Officer

Halton Borough Council is hiring an experienced Pay Officer to support an important payroll transition project.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a busy and supportive team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the transition project and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll.

About the role

As a Pay Officer, you will support the payroll function during a period of transition, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. You will be responsible for a range of payroll duties and will work closely with colleagues across the Council.

What we're looking for

To be considered for this role, you must have:

A minimum of 2 years' payroll experience
Experience working in a busy payroll environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a teamExperience using iTrent or Unit4 would be a distinct advantage.

Contract details

Pay rate: £15.31 per hour
Contract: Minimum 2 months, supporting a transition project
Start date: October 2026
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Location: Initially based on site at the DCBL Stadium, Widnes, before moving to a hybrid working arrangementIf you have the payroll experience required and are available to support this exciting project, we would love to hear from you.
