The Opportunity

An established and highly respected independent accountancy and business advisory firm is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join its growing team.

Working as part of a dedicated payroll team, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes accurately and efficiently while providing outstanding client support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a diverse client portfolio
  • Administering starters, leavers and payroll amendments
  • Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
  • Managing pension auto-enrolment processes and submissions
  • Processing PAYE, National Insurance and other statutory deductions
  • Preparing and submitting Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC
  • Liaising directly with clients to resolve payroll queries
  • Ensuring payroll records remain accurate and compliant with current legislation
  • Supporting year-end payroll activities, including P60 production
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive employee data appropriately

The Person

We are keen to speak with individuals who have:

  • Previous payroll administration experience, ideally within an accountancy practice, bureau environment or multi-client setting
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Experience processing multiple payrolls simultaneously
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication and client-facing abilities
  • Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Office applications
  • A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving

Desirable

  • Payroll qualifications (CIPP or equivalent)
  • Experience with pension auto-enrolment administration
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
