Are you an experienced Payroll professional looking for your next opportunity where you can take ownership of payroll while also supporting the wider HR function?

Regional Recruitment are recruiting for a Payroll Advisor to join the team of an established Manufacturing business based in the West Midlands.

This is a payroll-led position, so we're looking for someone who is highly confident managing payroll from start to finish, with strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of payroll legislation. Alongside payroll, you'll provide support across wider HR administration and the employee lifecycle when required.

You'll work closely with employees, line managers, HR colleagues and the Company Accountant, ensuring payroll is accurate, compliant and processed within strict deadlines.

Essential:

Strong experience within a payroll-focused position
Ability to pick up HR Duties when required
Confident managing payroll processes and working to strict deadlines
Good understanding of PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments
Experience checking and processing payroll data accurately
Experience handling employee and manager payroll queries
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Experience using payroll and/or HR systems
Good understanding of payroll legislation and compliance
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to handle confidential employee information appropriately
Comfortable supporting wider HR administration when required
Desirable:

Previous experience within an HR and Payroll position
IRIS Experience
Experience liaising with an external payroll provider
Experience working closely with Finance/Accounts teams
CIPD or payroll-related qualification
Experience with Time & Attendance systems
Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding

Roles & Responsibilities:

Take ownership of the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Manage payroll information and ensure all data is processed correctly within required deadlines.
Carry out payroll calculations including PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments.
Cross-check information provided by employees and managers to ensure payroll accuracy.
Liaise with the Company Accountant regarding payroll reconciliation.
Prepare and submit payroll data and reports to the external payroll provider for processing.
Handle payroll queries from employees and managers, providing appropriate and timely resolutions.
Ensure payroll processes are compliant with relevant legislation and company policies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll, HR and employee records.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure employee information is handled in line with GDPR.
Support with HR administration across the employee lifecycle when required.
Assist with preparing contracts, letters and other HR documentation.
Support recruitment administration, including job adverts, applications and pre-employment checks.
Assist with onboarding new employees and ensure relevant information is passed to Payroll accurately.
Maintain employee personnel files and ensure records are kept accurate and up to date.
Support with HR and payroll reporting, statistics and ad hoc reports.
Assist with monitoring employee absence, attendance and other relevant employee data.
Support the HR team with employee queries and general HR administration.
Assist with maintaining HR policies, procedures and employee documentation.
Support continuous improvement across payroll and HR processes.
Provide general administrative support to the wider People function as required.

About You:

You'll be an experienced Payroll professional who is confident taking ownership of payroll and working to strict deadlines.

You'll have strong attention to detail, be comfortable dealing with payroll calculations and statutory payments, and have the confidence to handle payroll queries from employees and managers.

While payroll will be the main focus of the role, you'll also be happy to support across the wider HR function when required, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records and general HR administration.
