Payroll & Accounts Payable Assistant

Astute Recruitment are recruiting for a Payroll & Accounts Payable Assistant to join a well-established business based in the NG16 area. This is a varied role covering both payroll and wider finance, so you will need to have previous hands-on payroll experience, alongside experience in areas such as accounts payable.

Payroll experience is essential for this position. You will be responsible for supporting the payroll process and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, as well as assisting with the wider finance function.

The role will include:

* Processing monthly payroll accurately and on time

* Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies

* Calculating statutory payments, deductions and adjustments

* Processing P11Ds and benefits where required

* Processing purchase invoices and credit notes

* Matching, coding and authorising invoices

* Supplier statement reconciliations

* Preparing and processing supplier payments

* Dealing with supplier queries

* Assisting with month-end processes

* General finance administration and supporting the wider finance team

We're looking for someone with:

* Previous hands-on payroll experience

* Experience across accounts payable and wider finance

* Good understanding of payroll legislation and statutory requirements

* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

* Good Excel skills

* Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlines

* Good communication skills and confidence dealing with internal and external queries

* A proactive, hands-on approach

* The ability to work independently while also being part of a wider finance team
