About the Role:

The role is full time and hybrid and sits within the HR transactional team within my client company. As the Payroll and Pensions Manager you will be responsible for a payroll team of 10, including a Payroll Supervisor, responsible for the payroll and pensions of over 5000 employees on a monthly basis. You will be tasked with brining new ideas to the team and continuously heading up various payroll projects throughout the year, while maintaining, testing and fixing the payroll system. You will be joining a company that is experiencing massive growth and be a part of the positive and continuous improvement to the payroll function. In return, you will play a key part of the overall success of this company and team and have the autonomy to positively impact the team with system change and testing, growth projects and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a team of 10 payroll administrators.
Full responsibility for processing the payroll accurately and on time, in accordance with Company and legislative guidelines.
Stay abreast of all payroll related changes both legislative and market driven, and instruct the business accordingly on the impact, suggesting modifications to policy/process to ensure compliance or to enhance colleague experience.
Ensure all inbound and outbound files to HMRC are processed as expected.
Perform all year end tasks including P11D’s and PSA.
Ensure the master data system is regularly reviewed, maintained, and upgraded with the latest legislative parameters and tested thoroughly.
Responsible for the Company’s Auto Enrolment & Perk pension scheme, ensuring adherence to prevailing legislation and undertaking provider reviews.
Ensure adequate controls are in place to adhere to all audit controls including the Minimum Control Standards (MCS).
Create accurate budgets for the departments spend and control these costs during the year.
Ensure all end of month duties for the various statutory bodies is produced and provided accurately and on time.
Ensure all Payroll related projects are delivered on time and to budget where necessary.
Own and continuously improve the service delivered to our stakeholders (colleagues) against agreed business outcomes and performance targets
Encourage and support with the development of payroll team

Ideally you will have:

Expertise in leading and delivering a fully ‘in-house’ payroll service across multiple countries in excess of 5,000 headcount.
Evidence in your career of continuous professional development referenced by knowledge of payroll legislation across multiple jurisdictions. This includes (but is not exhaustive) SSP, SMP, and includes all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements related to tax year end compliance.
Experience of the set up and maintenance of pensions Auto Enrolment & cyclical re-enrolment duties.
CIPP qualification or be qualified by experience.
A good knowledge of maintaining and testing HR/Payroll systems
Expert user experience of Microsoft excel - including the creation of macros/ complex formula.
Knowledge and experience of working with both internal and external control frameworks including experience of undertaking internal & external audits.
Highly numerate with proven ability to collate, display and interpret data to provide insight to key stakeholders.
Demonstrated within your career experience of working and delivering within a high volume in customer service delivery environment.
