Role Overview:


You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely end‑to‑end processing of monthly payrolls and pension contributions for UK employees, in line with statutory requirements and internal policies. This role will manage employee data changes, new starters and leavers, statutory payments and deductions, and pension scheme administration, working closely with HR, Finance and external providers to resolve queries and discrepancies. The successful candidate will maintain high data quality standards, support audits and reporting, and proactively contribute to process improvements and compliance with HMRC and pension regulations. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and customer‑focused communication are essential. 


 


 


Responsibilities:



  • Process end to end monthly payrolls (approx. 500 employees)

  • Pension administration, auto-enrolments and reconciliation

  • HMRC payments reconciliation

  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure all changes (starters, leavers, salary changes, benefits, statutory payments) are accurately reflected in the payroll system

  • Act as a first point of contact for payroll and pension queries, providing timely, clear responses and escalating complex issues where required

  • Support payroll and pensions year-end activities (e.g. P60s, P11Ds, pension returns), ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines


 


About the candidate:



  • Minimum of 2 years payroll experience within in-house or payroll bureau services

  • Knowledge of auto-enrolment rules and principles ensuring accurate and timely processing

  • Able to perform manual payroll calculations with confidence

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of the latest rules and calculations in regard to Statutory payments i.e. Maternity, Adoption, Shared Parental, Paternity, Bereavement pay etc

  • Advanced using Excel and all Microsoft packages

  • High attention to detail

  • Up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation
