Reporting to: Payroll Manager
Location: Office-based, 5 days per week (1 day WFH after probation)
Salary: £26,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to support the smooth and accurate processing of monthly payrolls across our business. This role is ideal for someone with strong Excel skills and a proactive approach to managing data, deadlines, and payroll compliance. You will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while also supporting wider HR and finance teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcess monthly payroll for employees across multiple sites
Manage weekly payroll inputs including corrections, sickness, training, transfer hours, and accrued hours
Maintain and update employee payroll records and data files
Review and validate timesheets to ensure accuracy
Prepare and upload payroll reports to Sage 50 Payroll
Investigate and resolve payroll-related queries and discrepancies promptly
Liaise effectively with HR, Operations, Site Managers, and the Finance team
Perform manual payroll calculations when necessary
Support both independent tasks and collaborative team efforts
Experience in a payroll role or similar position
Proficient in Sage 50 Payroll or equivalent software
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Excellent time management and communication skills
Discreet and reliable when handling sensitive information
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Minimum 1 year of experience in payroll or a related field
Intermediate Excel proficiency (including formulas, pivot tables, data validation)
Office-based, 5 days per week in Northampton
