Payroll Assistant

A leading retail organisation is seeking a meticulous and proactive Payroll Assistant to join its head office finance team in Cardiff.

?? Payroll Assistant - Cardiff (Retail)?? Location: Cardiff (Office-based)
?? Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm (37.5 hours per week)
?? Salary: £26,000 per annum
?? Contract: Permanent

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Checking and processing starter, leaver, and change forms from branches and HQ
• Uploading weekly and monthly hours for payroll runs
• Calculating statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP)
• Verifying tax codes, student loans, and PAYE forms with HMRC
• Supporting payroll for the Isle of Man and Guernsey regions
• Managing deductions including AOE, CSA, and voluntary payments
• Responding to internal and external payroll queries via phone, email, and post
• Generating payroll reports using Excel and maintaining accurate records

You'll Bring:? Experience working within a payroll function
? High attention to detail and a methodical approach
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
? Strong communication and problem-solving skills
? Confidence working to strict deadlines
