About Our Client

We are delighted to be partnering with a highly successful, established business with a multi-site presence across the UK. Operating within a vibrant and fast-moving commercial sector, this company prides itself on efficiency, innovation, and maintaining an excellent internal culture.

Due to continuous growth, they are now seeking a skilled and proactive Payroll Assistant to join their dedicated Finance team based in Poole.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll processing for both salaried and hourly-paid employees across multiple sites. This is a dynamic, high-volume environment where your attention to detail will directly impact the smooth running of the business's weekly and monthly payroll cycles.

Key Responsibilities

* End-to-End Processing: Manage and execute the full end-to-end payroll process for all employees across weekly and monthly schedules.

* Data Processing: Accurately collate timesheets, calculate overtime, and handle all changes including new starters, leavers, and variations to contracts.

* Compliance & Records: Maintain flawless employee records (tax codes, deductions, and pensions) while ensuring strict compliance with internal audit controls.

* HMRC & Statutory Reporting: Oversee statutory payments (SSP, SMP), manage pensions, and ensure accurate HMRC submissions (FPS, EPS) alongside P45 and P60 production.

* Year-End Support: Assist with year-end preparation, payroll journals, and the submission of P11D and P11D(b) forms.

* Queries & Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for internal payroll queries, liaising closely with the HR and Finance departments.

* Continuous Improvement: Participate in payroll system upgrades, data validation, and proactively suggest ways to improve system efficiency.

What We Are Looking For

* Proven Experience: A solid track record in a similar end-to-end payroll position, comfortably handling both hourly and salaried staff.

* Legislation Knowledge: Up-to-date, comprehensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation, compliance, and statutory regulations.

* Technical Skills: Strong MS Excel skills are essential, alongside the ability to adapt to new payroll software and validate complex data.

* Personal Attributes: High level of accuracy, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently. You must be an approachable communicator capable of handling sensitive data with complete professionalism.

Benefits & Package

* 23 days annual leave (increasing to 28 days after 5 years of service) plus Bank Holidays

* 5% employer and 5% employee pension contribution with Aviva

* Access to Perkbox employee rewards and discounts

* Free on-site parking

* Early finish on Fridays
