Derby - Hybrid & Flexible Working - 1-2 Days a week on site.

Elevation Recruitment Group's Senior Finance division are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager, required to take ownership of the full payroll function for a busy, fast-paced organisation based in Derby.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys improving processes, and is confident managing both people and complex payroll operations.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager:

• Managing the end-to-end payroll process for a multi-site workforce
• Leading a small payroll team, providing support, guidance, and development
• Ensuring compliance with all HMRC and statutory requirements
• Resolving queries promptly and professionally, acting as the key point of contact for payroll matters
• Working closely with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency
• Driving improvements in payroll processes and systems, identifying and implementing best practices

Key Skills & Experience required:

• Previous experience in a Payroll Manager or senior payroll role, ideally in a high-volume environment
• Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, pensions, and statutory payments
• Proficient with payroll systems and advanced Excel skills
• Proven leadership ability – you can manage and develop a team effectively
• Clear communicator, able to engage confidently across all levels
• CIPP qualification or working towards it would be desirable
