Job Description - Payroll Manager

Reed Accountancy are currently working with a business who are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for a large workforce of over 500 employees. This role involves processing monthly payroll and handling all related administrative tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and process monthly payroll for over 500 employees.
  • Perform manual payroll calculations when necessary.
  • Calculate statutory payments such as maternity, paternity, and sick pay.
  • Handle employee deductions including taxes, insurance, and other benefits.
  • Process new starters and leavers, including issuing P45s and assigning correct tax codes.
  • Administer Additional Holiday Pay (AHP) and P11D submissions.
  • Generate and maintain payroll reports using the HR system.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to payroll records, including leave, sickness, and statutory payments.
  • Manage deductions such as Attachment of Earnings (AOEs).
  • Oversee workplace pension schemes and submit monthly reports to pension providers.
  • Submit FPS and EPS filings to HMRC online.
  • Provide payroll-related support and guidance to employees, addressing queries on topics like SMP, SSP, holiday pay, and tax codes.
  • Stay informed on current payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a payroll role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong background in payroll processing is essential.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and able to collaborate effectively with other departments.
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
