Job Description - Payroll Manager

NET Recruit are partnering with a successful engineering business to search for a Payroll Manager in the Canterbury area

Your Role
While in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Overseeing end-to-end payroll processing for 2,000 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment
  • Maintaining and updating payroll records, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and internal policies
  • Managing payroll queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently, delivering excellent internal customer service
  • Collaborating with Finance and HR to ensure accurate reporting of payroll data, pensions, and benefits
  • Ensuring compliance with PAYE, NI, pensions auto-enrolment, and statutory reporting obligations
  • Handling year-end payroll activities and liaise with external auditors or HMRC as required
  • Supporting the HR team with administrative tasks including onboarding documentation, contract generation, and maintaining employee records
  • Identifying and implementing improvements in payroll and HR admin processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy

You MUST Have
Please apply ONLY if you meet the following criteria:
  • Proven experience managing large-scale payroll operations
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC compliance
  • Proficiency in payroll software and confident working with Excel for reporting and data analysis
  • Strong understanding of pensions administration, statutory payments, and end-of-year processes
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential information and work collaboratively across HR and Finance teams
