Job Description - Payroll Officer

RM Recruit are working with an excellent, dynamic not-for-profit organisation who are actively seeking a well-experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Our client can offer flexible, hybrid working with an office presence of once per week and the rest working from home.

As a Payroll Officer, you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end monthly payroll process for our workforce, ensuring all payments are accurate, compliant with statutory requirements, and in line with local pay agreements. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on detail, enjoys solving payroll queries, and takes pride in delivering a reliable, professional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process monthly payroll, including manual calculations where required, covering starters, leavers, amendments, statutory payments, casual claims, deductions, and HMRC notifications
  • Distribute payslips to employees in line with payroll deadlines
  • Administer statutory and occupational parental and sickness policies, including preparing maternity schedules and tracking/monitoring sickness entitlement
  • Complete full Gross-to-NET payroll reconciliations to support accurate monthly payroll processing
  • Produce detailed monthly payroll analysis reports and ad-hoc bespoke reports as requested
  • Manage local salary sacrifice schemes (e.g. Childcare Vouchers) in line with statutory regulations and deadlines
  • Process pay awards, collate data for incremental progression approvals, and calculate back-pay when required
  • Produce and submit BACS files for employees and third parties each month
  • Work closely with HR and Finance teams to resolve queries and support audits

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced payroll position, with responsibility for end-to-end processing
  • Experience of working in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Discreet, professional, and committed to maintaining confidentiality

If you’re an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in accuracy, we’d love to hear from you.

RM Recruit is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and will treat all applicants equally irrespective of sex, sexual orientation, marital/civil partnership status, age, disability, race, religion, pregnancy, ethnic or national origin.
