Summary
This is an 11-month contract opportunity with a local authority, where you will play a crucial role in providing dependable and efficient administrative support to the payroll team. Your contributions will be vital in delivering a specialized payroll service, as you manage various payroll, pension, employment, and financial processing tasks with precision and meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Accurately establish and maintain records for new starters within payroll systems.
Manage updates to existing employee contracts, including changes to salary, hours, and personal information.
Calculate payroll-related figures such as pay adjustments, deductions, and entitlements.
Support payroll processing by ensuring data accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Assist with administrative tasks related to pensions, ensuring adherence to regulations.
Process financial transactions and maintain precise payroll records.
Ensure all data is correctly recorded and updated in relevant systems.
Essential Experience
Previous administrative experience, preferably in payroll, HR, or finance.
Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping with a high degree of accuracy.
Experience in addressing customer or employee inquiries.
Essential Qualifications
GCSEs or equivalent (including Maths and English) or relevant experience.
Payroll-related training or qualification (desirable but not essential).
Additional Information
Working hours: 29 hours per week.
Working arrangements -The role is contractually office-based, as there may be times when team members are required to attend the office every day, sometimes at short notice. In practice, our team generally works from home, with one designated office day each week. Each team has its own office day, and for this team it is currently Monday
Home working can begin once training has been completed. All training is office-based and carried out alongside colleagues. The length of training varies depending on individual confidence and competence, and some seasonal aspects of the role can only be covered at certain times of the year.
As a result, you should expect to attend the office frequently at the start of your employmentâpotentially daily initially, then several days a weekâbefore moving to the usual one day a week arrangement.
