The Opportunity:

As a Payroll Senior, you’ll take ownership of a varied and complex client portfolio. Your role will go beyond standard processing — you’ll act as a trusted advisor, mentor junior team members, and play a key part in driving quality, compliance, and process improvement within the payroll function.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Managing the end-to-end processing of complex client payrolls
• Handling gross pay calculations, deductions, statutory payments, pensions, and year-end reporting
• Acting as the lead point of contact for your portfolio, building trusted relationships
• Supporting, reviewing, and mentoring junior staff
• Ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation, GDPR, HMRC, and TPR requirements
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiency
• Staying updated on legislation and payroll software best practices

What You’ll Bring:

• 3-5+ years of payroll experience, ideally within accountancy or bureau environments
• Strong knowledge of complex payroll scenarios and legislation
• Experience with Iris - Ideal.
• Excellent attention to detail and confidence managing client expectations
• Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Excel skills
• Experience in reviewing work and guiding junior team members
• A proactive, solutions-driven mindset
