About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Payroll Supervisor to lead payroll operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery, while supporting the transition from a manual to a digital Time & Attendance (T&A) system. This role will work closely with HR, Finance, and our outsourced payroll provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance

• Review and approve payroll data, including statutory deductions and adjustments

• Coordinate submissions to HMRC, pension providers, and payroll bureau

• Resolve complex employee payroll queries and support line managers

• Maintain payroll records and reconcile control accounts

• Oversee year-end reporting (P60s, P11Ds) and audit preparation

• Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and data protection

• Lead the payroll aspects of system upgrades or T&A transitions

Requirements

• Proven experience supervising or leading payroll in a manufacturing or industrial environment

• In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC reporting

• Experience with both manual and electronic timekeeping systems

• Proficiency in Excel and payroll/accounting systems (e.g., Sage)

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality

Preferred

• CIPP qualified or working towards

• Experience with system implementations (e.g., Workday)
