Payroll Team Leader

Payroll Team Leader | Leeds | £40,000 | Office-based | Flexible start & finish times

We are working with a growing business in Leeds that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join its busy and expanding payroll function.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take responsibility for the processing of payroll, payroll compliance, legislation and reporting, whilst managing and supporting a small team.

The role would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a busy environment, can manage competing priorities and is confident taking ownership of the payroll function.

The Role

Taking responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
Processing payrolls for a bureau, managing multiple payrolls and deadlines
Ensuring payroll processes comply with HMRC requirements and current legislation
Taking ownership of payroll reporting and reconciliations
Managing and supporting a small payroll team
Reviewing payrolls and ensuring accuracy before completion
Dealing with payroll queries and resolving issues
Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and ensuring these are implemented correctly
Using Excel to analyse payroll data and produce reports
Managing workloads and priorities within a busy and growing function
Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies

About You

Strong payroll processing experience, ideally including both weekly and monthly payrolls
Previous experience of leading or managing a small team
Good knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC compliance
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data and reporting
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
The ability to manage multiple payrolls and competing deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership
