Classroom Talent is working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, which is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious PE Teacher from January 2027.

This is a permanent position, employed directly by the school, offering excellent long-term stability, progression and the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibility.

For the right candidate, the school is offering an £8,000 TLR with the opportunity to take on Head of Department responsibility. This makes the role particularly attractive to an experienced PE Teacher looking to move into departmental leadership, a Second in Department ready for their next step, or an existing Head of PE looking for a new challenge.

The successful candidate will teach PE across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to contribute to GCSE and Sixth Form PE depending on experience.

The school has a strong sporting culture, an extensive PE curriculum and a well-established extracurricular programme, with students encouraged to take part in competitive sport, fixtures and wider physical activity.

PE Department

Person Specification

* Must hold UK QTS or be in the process of gaining QTS

* Confident teaching PE across KS3 and KS4

* Strong classroom and behaviour management

* Passionate about PE, sport and student participation

* Willing to contribute to extracurricular clubs and fixtures

* Able to work effectively as part of a collaborative department

* Ambitious and committed to professional development

* Comfortable supporting the school’s values and ethos

* Experience teaching GCSE PE and/or Sixth Form PE would be advantageous

* Leadership experience or clear leadership potential would be desirable for the Head of Department opportunity
