PE Teaching Assistant

(with SEN Support Focus)

Pay: £90-£110 per day

Full-time/ Term Time only

Hackney, East London

As a PE TA, you'll work closely with the PE lead and SEN team to provide tailored physical education and movement-based support. Your role will be vital in helping students overcome physical, emotional, or sensory challenges that impact their ability to fully engage in PE lessons and school life.

P.E Teaching Assistant Role:

• Support the delivery of PE and movement sessions for students with a range of SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities, SEMH)
• Assist pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups during sports and physical activities
• Adapt PE tasks and equipment to meet individual needs and physical abilities
• Encourage participation and motivation through positive reinforcement
• Help manage behaviour and emotional regulation during active sessions
• Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals where needed

P.E Teaching Assistant Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEN
• A passion for PE, sport, movement, or physical development
• Ability to adapt activities to meet varying needs and capabilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Resilient, calm, and confident when managing behaviour or sensory needs
