Job Description - PEACEPLUS Accountant

PEACEPLUS Accountant
REF: PPA/06/24
Grade Staff Officer (Accountant), Permanent

Salary: £34,524 - £35,712 per annum*

*Allowances will be payable to a successful candidate who is a part-qualified member of
one of the professional accountancy bodies listed in the Eligibility Criteria. If the successful
candidate is a fully qualified member of one of the named accountancy bodies, they will
be moved to the Staff Officer Accountant pay scale on appointment (£37,802 - £38,990 per
annum).

Purpose of the Job

The PEACEPLUS Accountant will be responsible for financial management of the VSS PEACEPLUS project, funded by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) PEACEPLUS Programme. Working with 12 partner organisations, the PEACEPLUS accountant will be responsible for budget management, centralised reporting of project financial information, and management of project cashflows. The Accountant will also be responsible for VSS claim submissions, ensuring eligibility of project related expenditure and liaison with the external project controller. The Accountant will play a key co-ordination role on all financial aspects of project delivery.

1.
• The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
• Chartered Accountants Ireland
• The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland
• The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
• The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
• The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
• The Institute of Certified Public Accounts in Ireland; or equivalent
OR
• A Fully Qualified Accounting Technician

2. A minimum of 2 years’ practical experience in all of the following areas:

  • Budget management including analysis of variances and preparation of reports for senior management.
  • Use of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting, including use of advanced functionality (for example VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
  • Month end closure to include reconciliation of control accounts and compilation of month end management accounts.
  • Internal or external audit processes, including the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Working with non-financial departments within an organisation to provide finance support and analysis.
  • Developing processes and procedures to include implementation of best practice arrangements.
