Your role as People Operations Lead will be pivotal in ensuring we have the talented and motivated team needed to support and drive excellence in healthcare consulting and data services.
Carnall Farrar (CF) is a growing management consultancy which works across all aspects of the healthcare sector from supporting the NHS to serving major life science companies. We are passionate about, and experts in, healthcare. Founded in 2013 we have grown over the past 11 years to a core staff of around 70 across consulting, data science and corporate functions. We have a strong reputation in the healthcare sector and are highly regarded both internally and externally for the level of support and development we give our people. As a professional services business, CF has three primary assets – its people, its knowledge and its data and associated products. The CF team are consequently central to the success of the business.
Role summary
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will champion all things People Operations across the company and will directly contribute to our People Strategy. Partnering with our Chief People Officer, Head of FP&A and Operations Director to deliver an excellent employee experience across employee onboarding, offboarding, policies, procedures, payroll, compensation, benefits and tooling. As the very first People Operations Lead, you will design and implement the building blocks that enable us to continue our growth journey. You are an early member of the new People team, so your scope and ability to make a difference will be huge.
We have developed our People Strategy, which is designed to support the delivery of CF’s company strategy, through ensuring we are an employer of choice within the sector and an ‘irresistible organisation’ for our employees. We have made an extensive commitment to staff development through an in-house development programme, supported with external inputs. This delivers 10 days of training per year to all staff, with additional time for specific groups (e.g. graduate analysts on induction). Training draws on the extensive skills and experience of the leadership team to deliver the programme, which has been accredited as a route for recipients to become Chartered Management Consultants.
Our growth ambitions are significant – we have diversified over the past seven years, and in the future this is likely to see us establish additional UK bases, as well as considering how we have a more international face. These developments will all have significant implications for how we work and the skills we need.
As a member of the People team of CF, clear communication and strong interpersonal skills are essential for this role. Our work with health systems includes work with public and private providers of all kinds of care as well as their commissioners and regulators. We work at every level including national, regional, place and local level. We support health systems on critical strategic, performance and organisational issues to deliver the best outcomes for the populations they serve.
Our work with the life sciences industry includes pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as medical devices, diagnostics, and health tech companies as well as their investors. We support the life sciences industry in the uptake of innovation including access, pathway transformation, and use of data & digital, and how they partner with health systems to improve patient outcomes.
Flexible working
We operate a hybrid-working policy; corporate team members need to be physically together for a minimum of 3 days a week. For this role these days should be with the Chief People Officer, Operations Director and Head of FP&A. Travel to other CF offices in the UK may be required as and when established.
In addition, for up to four weeks a year each member of staff can work entirely virtually. This should be agreed with the CEO and Operations Director.
