About the role:

This performance advisor role sits within the Production Performance Management squad. The Performance Management organization is focused on simplifying the way we work, streamlining and automating processes and management reporting, and deriving insights for improved business performance. Our vision is to be a partner for trusted, actionable insights, merging data intelligence and performance capabilities to empower business decision-making.

The role has a global remit, providing performance insight leadership across bp’s production portfolio. You will act as a subject-matter expert in production performance analytics, partnering with regional teams and central functions to ensure consistent data, robust insights, and alignment to performance frameworks.

The role offers exposure across the production enabler and integration with key stakeholders within finance, and requires working closely with the production LT.

What you will deliver:

  • Support and improve the quarterly GFR (Group Financial Reporting) and QPF (Quarterly Performance Forecast) processes with a focus on consolidation of global production reporting (internal and external).

    • Generate analysis and insights on the production by wedge and deferrals by choke as well as capturing opportunities and vulnerabilities.

    • Partner with regional performance teams to drive consistency and alignment of definitions, reporting standards and methodologies across all regions and assets.

  • Lead data analysis and strategic insight generation on Production topics to support key partners including Production leadership team: (Base Management & Production Excellence, Engaging Reliability & Integrity teams, other Performance teams).

    • Support Production performance reviews and creation & stewardship of Production LT performance contracts.

    • Analyse production-impacting themes across multiple assets and operating environments (e.g. TARs, Process Safety events and water injection), generate insights and provide recommendations to leadership.

  • Maintain and improve standardized dashboards to increase transparency, accuracy and decision-readiness of production data.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Proven experience in production, bp solutions, subsurface, projects or wells.

  • Excellent data analysis and interrogation skills, including use of PowerBI, Excel, and data analytics. Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to develop key insights from complex, incomplete data and for complex, not well-defined requests in support of executive decision-making.

  • Inquisitive and curious mindset and desire to understand the activities that production deliver. Inherently uncomfortable with the status quo and “how things have been done”.

  • Track record of proposing new approaches and ways of working to improve processes and systems/tools.

  • Proven track record to work under pressure and deliver in challenging timeframes.

  • Good interpersonal and networking skills (across multiple teams), ability to work across fields (financial and non-financial), and ability to build trusted relationship.

Desired skills:

  • Management reporting and visualization: developing and delivering regular operations and business reporting, including analysis, insights, and ad-hoc reporting (e.g. forecast vs actual variance analysis)

  • Business sense: understanding business operations and the commercial landscape, financial fundamentals, and external market factors impacting opportunities and their value

  • Technical competence: using working technical knowledge of other bp enablers beyond production (including wells, subsurface, projects, finance, HSE&C and I&E) to build effective partnerships with our customers and an understanding of their business and challenges to derive meaningful, actionable insights.

  • Planning: engaging partners (technical and leadership) to support and enhance translation of business strategy into coherent action plans with clear milestones and performance indicators. Integrating knowledge of historical performance with future market insights to guide decisions.

  • Advanced analytics: implementing advanced data analytics, data science, statistical modelling and new technologies, such as machine learning and AI as well as other big data capabilities. We will work with the business to develop prototypes, enabling better questions to be asked and deeper insights to be generated.

  • Scenario modelling: producing abstract or distilled representations of situations to aid the communication and understanding of existing, conceptual, or proposed scenarios and alternatives

  • Benchmarking: incorporate benchmarking and market intelligence into standard products, insights, and recommendations
