Location: Wandsworth, South West London (SW17)
Pay: £108.68 - £115 per day
Contract Type: Full-time | Long-term

Long Term Futures is recruiting a creative and technically confident Drama / Performing Arts Technician to join a successful secondary school in Wandsworth. This full-time opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in theatre production, performing arts, technical stage support, events, or a school Drama department.

Working closely with Drama teachers and the wider Performing Arts team, you will provide practical and technical support across lessons, rehearsals, examinations, productions, and school events. You will help ensure that performance spaces, equipment, props, costumes, lighting, and sound systems are prepared and maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities

Provide technical and practical support for Drama and Performing Arts lessons.
Prepare performance spaces, studios, stages, props, costumes, and equipment.
Operate and support lighting, sound, projection, and other technical theatre equipment.
Assist with rehearsals, examinations, school productions, performances, and events.
Support students with the safe and appropriate use of technical equipment.
Help design, construct, source, and maintain scenery, sets, props, and displays.
Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of departmental equipment.
Manage and organise departmental resources, stock, costumes, and technical supplies.
Ensure performance and teaching spaces are safe, organised, and ready for use.
Follow relevant health and safety procedures, including risk assessments and safe working practices.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, students, site teams, and external production professionals.
Provide occasional support outside normal school hours for performances and events, where required.

Essential Candidate Requirements

Previous experience within theatre, Drama, Performing Arts, live events, production, technical support, or a similar environment.
Practical knowledge of lighting, sound, staging, props, costumes, set construction, or audiovisual equipment.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage equipment and competing priorities.
A practical, proactive, and creative approach to problem-solving.
Confidence working independently and collaboratively as part of a department.
Good communication skills and the ability to work positively with secondary-aged students.
An understanding of health and safety within performance or technical environments.
School-based experience is desirable but not essential.
Relevant qualifications in Drama, Performing Arts, Technical Theatre, Production Arts, Stage Management, or a related subject would be advantageous.
Must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
