Job Description - Personal Tax Assistant

A modern, forward-thinking accountancy and advisory practice is looking for a motivated individual to join its growing personal tax team. The firm prides itself on delivering high-quality service, innovative solutions and strong client relationships across a wide range of sectors.

Role Overview

This is an entry-level Personal Tax Assistant position, ideal for graduates or candidates who have completed a placement year and are looking to build a career in tax. You'll support the tax team in handling personal tax compliance work while developing technical skills through structured training and hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with preparing and submitting self-assessment tax returns.
Respond to basic client queries in a timely and professional manner.
Collect and organise client information and documentation.
Support senior team members with personal tax compliance tasks.
Assist with tax calculations, data entry and digital filing with HMRC.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
Participate in training sessions and ongoing professional development.
Develop understanding of UK personal tax rules and compliance requirements.
Conduct basic tax research and support ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Collaborate with other departments when necessary.
Contribute to high standards of accuracy and client service.
Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to take on increasing responsibility.
Degree in any discipline or relevant placement-year experience.
Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Eagerness to begin a career in tax and professional services.
Interest in working towards a professional qualification (ATT/CTA).
