Job Description - Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager

Summary

Within Philanthropy, our job is to inspire individuals and trusts to support the Trust in our mission to ensure that nature, beauty and history are there for all to enjoy, for ever.

This includes building meaningful relationship with existing and new donors in the UK and internationally, with the ability to make transformational gifts to the National Trust, to harnessing their support for people and places, and championing a fundraising culture across the Trust.

What it's like to work here

Our Fundraising team sits within our Support and Revenue Directorate, which brings together our supporter-facing income streams from Membership to Fundraising through to our Commercial teams.

We’re a dynamic team with big ambitions who are focused on making things happen. The National Trust is a large organisation, with teams that sit across England, Wales and Northern Ireland in a matrix structure. As a result, it can be complex to navigate so you will need to enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues to get things done.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will involve travel to our head office to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

Working with the Head of Philanthropy and your colleagues, including senior stakeholders across the organisation you'll work across the organisation from pipeline development through the donor cycle to cultivate external partnerships with some of our most complex and involved high level funders.

Support our American affiliate, the Royal Oak Foundation, developing efficient ways to deliver their needs and identify ways to support the growth of this work.

Take the lead on some of our key senior stakeholder relationships and ensuring plans, briefing and communications work seamlessly

Who we're looking for

  • Knowledge of philanthropy trends across the sector, domestically and internationally
  • Experience of building multi-year strategically aligned proposals
The package
