SDG Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Ltd is an established mechanical and electrical contractor based in Bedford, delivering projects across mainly the education, leisure, commercial and public sectors.
We undertake a range of refurbishment and new-build mechanical projects, from smaller works through to larger projects involving complete heating, domestic, plant room and all mechanical installations.
We are looking for an experienced pipefitter to join our growing mechanical team.

About the Job
As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical pipework installations across a range of commercial projects.
The successful Pipefitter will undertake installation of pipework in both refurbishment and new-build projects, working across a number of sectors including education, leisure and commercial.
The role will involve:
* Installing heating, hot water and domestic water pipework
* Working with a range of pipework systems and materials including press fit, screwed and plastic.
* Installing pipework within plant rooms, risers and occupied buildings
* Reading and working from mechanical drawings and specifications
* Carrying out pipework installation to a high standard
* Working alongside mechanical engineers and other trades
* Working safely and maintaining good housekeeping on site
* Liaising professionally with clients, site managers and other contractors
* Identifying additional works and reporting issues to the management team
This is a varied role, with projects ranging from smaller reactive and refurbishment works through to larger mechanical installations.
Requirements
The ideal Pipefitter will have previous experience working on commercial mechanical installations and be confident working independently as well as part of a team.
* Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
* Good understanding of pipework installation and mechanical services
* Good standard of workmanship
* Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
* Good communication and professional approach when working on client sites
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Experience working within education, leisure or commercial environments
* Experience working within plant rooms and on commercial refurbishment projects
* Relevant mechanical qualification or apprenticeship
* CSCS/JIB or equivalent site qualification
