The Role:
An exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated and pro-active Plant Design Engineer to join a close-knit team. This role suits someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and enjoys managing engineering projects from concept through to completion.

Main Purpose of the Role:
The Plant Design Engineer will facilitate the design and development of specialist plant and equipment layouts for clients within a process engineering sector, working closely with sales, technical and project teams to deliver customised solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards.

Core Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with sales and technical teams to understand customer needs and translate these into project specifications

* Specify and select appropriate equipment and components for both turnkey systems and single machine installations

* Produce plant layouts, detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation, maintaining accurate project records throughout

* Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and compliance with specifications

* Attend customer sites to conduct site surveys and assess client requirements

* Provide support during installation and commissioning phases

* Manage project and cost control

* Identify opportunities for product and process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness

* Ensure compliance with relevant industrial and safety standards and health & safety regulations

* Assist in preparing proposals and technical presentations

Essential Requirements:

* Develop comprehensive equipment and plant designs

* Background in a relevant processing, manufacturing or materials handling industry

* Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline

* Experience in Plant Design, Project Engineering or a similar engineering role

* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Excellent communication and project design abilities, with a strong analytical, problem-solving mindset

* Knowledge of engineering standards, health & safety requirements and quality management systems

* Competent in Microsoft Office, CAD and project management tools

* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required
