Plant Fitter

The Company

Our client is a well-established environmental services business with over 50 years of experience supporting customers across construction, manufacturing, agriculture, commercial and public sectors. Operating a modern fleet of heavy plant and recycling equipment, they continue to invest in both their facilities and engineering team.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Fitter to join their workshop in Devizes.

The Role

As a Plant Fitter, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a varied fleet of heavy plant and recycling equipment, ensuring machinery is safe, reliable and operating at maximum efficiency. The role combines planned maintenance with fault finding and reactive repairs, offering plenty of variety and technical challenge.

Responsibilities

* Service, maintain and repair heavy plant and recycling machinery.

* Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.

* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns.

* Complete inspections and ensure equipment meets safety standards.

* Accurately record maintenance activities and completed repairs.

* Work closely with the operations team to minimise downtime.

About You

We're interested in candidates from backgrounds such as Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, HGV Technician or REME Vehicle Mechanic.

You should have:

* Experience maintaining heavy plant, agricultural machinery or similar equipment.

* Strong mechanical fault-finding skills with knowledge of hydraulic and diesel systems.

* Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous.

* A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) is desirable.

* A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.

* A full UK Driving Licence.
