Salary: £20.00 per hour Working Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-3:00pm; Friday, 7:00am-12:30pm Hours: 36.5 hours per week Reporting To: Production Manager / Fabrication Manager
Purpose of the Role
The Plater will be responsible for carrying out plating and fabrication duties to support the safe and efficient production of high-quality fabricated components.
The role involves reading and interpreting engineering drawings, marking out, cutting, shaping, forming, assembling, and preparing materials to the required specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, job packs, and specifications. Mark out, cut, shape, form, and assemble plate, sections, and fabricated components. Use appropriate fabrication tools, machinery, and equipment safely and correctly. Prepare, align, and tack components ready for welding, ensuring they meet the required standards. Measure and check work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with drawings and specifications. Work safely with overhead cranes, lifting equipment, and mechanical handling equipment where trained and authorised. Report defects, drawing issues, material concerns, or production problems to the line manager. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment. Follow company procedures, safety rules, and quality standards at all times. Support continuous improvement by identifying practical improvements to working methods.
Health & Safety
Work safely at all times to promote personal safety and the safety of others, helping to prevent accidents and reporting all near misses. Move materials safely and carefully using the correct mechanical lifting methods. Use the appropriate PPE and ensure it is in good condition, replacing it when required. Previous experience working as a Plater within a fabrication, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environment. Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications. Good practical fabrication, measuring, marking-out, and assembly skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards. Awareness of safe lifting, handling, and use of fabrication equipment. Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Benefits & Package
