Job Description - Platform Support Engineer

Petrolink is a Global leader in providing real-time data management and analytics solutions for the energy sector.
The Platform Support Engineer primary tasks is ensuring platform availability alongside other team members, and act on reported system issues based on assignment from Team Lead or their own pro-activity.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Platform Support Engineer is responsible for:
·

Implementation of new system deployments.
·

Upgrade of existing systems.
·

Collaborate with other team members to perform monitoring of systems using metrics recording and tracking.
·

24/7 Infrastructure support for the Company’s PetroVault system.
·

Act as team-lead replacement in case of unavailability based on Business Continuity Process (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Process (DRP) description.
·

Perform system tuning and rapid response for major issues that need immediate attention.
·

Collaborate with the team to perform research and give technology recommendations that can meet or satisfy three key points: Cost Effectiveness, Productivity Increase, Efficiency
·

Adhering to Quality Management System (QMS) and self-enforcing of procedures and regulations.
·

Communicate concerns or recommendations to team lead related to current running system.
·

Participate and contribute in regular team knowledge sharing sessions for information dissemination.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:
At least 2 years professional experience in a similar role such as:
System administrator
Windows/Linux Server administrator
Database administrator
DevOps/SRE engineer
Cloud administrator
Windows server management particularly IIS management.
Comfortable with Linux OS.
Experience in one of these database technologies:
MSSQL
Apache Cassandra
PostgreSQL
Experience in managing cloud platforms. Preferably Microsoft Azure
Capable in preparing documentations or after-action reports.
Basic understanding in computer networking.
Experience in technical troubleshooting, understanding error messages and exploring log files.
Basic Linux shell or PowerShell scripting.
From non-technical point of view, the engineer should be thorough, have good attention to detail, show initiative, be eager to learn and happy to share technical knowledge or teach their fellow engineers.

Preferred but not Essential
Experience in observability/monitoring stacks such as Grafana, ELK, Prometheus and influxDB.
Good grasp of TLS certificates.
Experience in managing distributed systems.
Experience in containers such as docker and/or Kubernetes technology.
