Job Description - Play Coordinator

BARNARDO'S WILTSHIRE SHORT BREAKS -PLAY COORDINATOR -60 hours per month

Would you like to work as part of a supportive and creative team working across North, West and East Wiltshire ?
Do you have significant experience of working with children and young people with additional needs?
Then this may be the job for you!!
Barnardo's is commissioned by Wiltshire Council to deliver fun activities to children aged 6-18 with significant physical and learning disabilities who may struggle to access mainstream provision elsewhere.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner to deliver our short breaks clubs in Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon. The clubs operate all day on 2 Saturdays per month plus once a week in each area in the summer holidays.
Around 10 children are supported in each club and many require 1:1 staffing.
As Play Coordinator you would be responsible for
Ensuring the needs of all children are met, with an emphasis on their safety and wellbeing
Linking with parents and professionals to ensure the service we offer is appropriate to the children's needs
Leading and organising a team of staff to support the children in club
Planning a range of activities responsive to the needs and wishes of the young people.
Providing appropriate medical support for children with additional needs such as those who have seizures or require peg feeding
Providing personal care
Utilising your skills and knowledge to support staff in other clubs across the county.
Attending meetings and contributing to reports as required.
The successful applicant will demonstrate
A knowledge of, andcommitment to, theneeds of children and young people with SEND
Understanding of the importance of listening to children and ensuring their voices are heard in our service delivery
An ability to lead a team of staff and volunteers with varying experience and skills
Knowledge of the importance of keeping children safe with an emphasis on robust safeguarding practice and Health and Safety requirements
An ability to work flexibly to include Saturdays and school summer holidays.
Your hours will vary from week to week - depending on how many clubs you are running and the other tasks that are required - with an average of 60 hours per month across the year.
Training and management support will be provided.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band
