PLC Engineer (Contract)

Location: Heathrow Airport
Contract: Up to 3 Years
Rate: £350–£500 per day (DOE)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to join a long-term project based at Heathrow Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical airport infrastructure, delivering PLC programming, commissioning, maintenance, and system improvements within a highly regulated operational environment.

This is a contract position offering up to three years of work, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop, modify, and maintain PLC software.

* Diagnose and resolve PLC and control system faults.

* Commission and test PLC-controlled systems.

* Support planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns.

* Produce and update technical documentation.

* Work closely with electrical, mechanical and project engineering teams.

* Ensure all work complies with airport safety procedures and industry standards.

* Support system upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

* Proven experience as a PLC Engineer within industrial, manufacturing, automation, or infrastructure environments.

* Strong knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding.

* Experience with one or more PLC platforms.

* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.

* Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

* Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the location of this role, candidates must be eligible to obtain an Airside Pass. This requires:

* A minimum of five years' checkable work, and address history.

* The right to work in the UK.

* Successful completion of airport security vetting.
