PLC Software Engineer

Role: PLC Software Engineer

Location: Stevenage (on-site)

Salary: £40k+

We're working with a long-established UK-based manufacturer of custom-built Electrical Control Panels, Motor Control Centres, and Switchboards. They are now looking to hire an experienced PLC Software Engineer to join their growing team in Hertfordshire. This is a hands-on engineering role working alongside a team of skilled software and electrical engineers, with opportunities to take full ownership of projects and liaise directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement PLC software for industrial control systems
• Configure and test PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
• Automate and optimise control panel and MCC functionality
• Interface with clients to understand and deliver project requirements
• Participate in commissioning, fault finding, and site support as needed

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider)
• Experience with SCADA/HMI systems (e.g., Wonderware, WinCC, iFIX, etc.)
• Understanding of control systems, panel wiring, and electrical schematics
• Ability to write technical documentation and user guides
• Experience in the water industry is a plus, but not essential
• Competency in testing, commissioning, and project delivery
• Good communication and client-facing skills

Requirements:

• ONC/HNC or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering (or similar)
• Must be eligible to work in the UK with a valid permit
