Salary: £24,596 per annum

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Porter to join our Facilities team at Burton & South Derbyshire College.  This is a vital frontline role supporting the day-to-day operations of the college, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised environment for staff, learners, and visitors.

The successful candidate will provide a high-quality portering service across the campus, including room setups, internal moves, and general operational support, whilst complying with health and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities include:

Setting up and clear rooms for teaching sessions, events, and examinations
Moving furniture, equipment, and deliveries safely across campus
Assisting with receipt and distribution of goods and materials
Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs as required
Supporting security arrangements including locking/unlocking buildings
Ensuring all areas are clean, tidy, and safe, reporting hazards promptly
Providing a helpful and professional service to staff, students, and visitors
Assisting during open days, enrolment, and special eventsThis role is typically shift-based, including early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends depending on college needs.

Applicants should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
