Job Description - Power Station Integration Lead

Lead – Power Station Integration

Locations: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as your primary base: Derby, Warrington or Manchester

The Business

Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology provides a British solution to a global energy challenge. We are positioned to become a world leader in SMRs and the UK’s premier green export capability, shaping the future of low‑carbon power.

This is more than a job — it is a once‑in‑a‑career opportunity to contribute to a programme that will define the UK’s energy landscape for generations. This is a legacy.

The Team

The Power Station Integration team brings together the functional and architectural design of the entire RR SMR power station. Through systems engineering, requirements flowdown and design optioneering, the team ensures that high‑level plant requirements are translated into a coherent, integrated and fully optimised product.

Working at the centre of the engineering programme, the team connects multi‑disciplined engineers to deliver a consistent, safe and effective power station design.

Summary

We are seeking Lead Power Station Integration Engineers to play a pivotal role in the definition and integration of the RR SMR power station.

You will lead teams of engineers using systems engineering methods to deliver an integrated product‑level design, working across functional areas to ensure that top‑level technical, safety and performance requirements are met.

This is a high‑impact role requiring technical leadership, strong cross‑functional collaboration and the ability to navigate complex system‑level challenges across a diverse engineering organisation.

Key Responsibilities

We’ll need you to:

  • Lead a team delivering the product‑level design of the power station to meet business and customer requirements.

  • Manage key performance and attribute measures (e.g., net power output, availability, cost).

  • Elicit and decompose product‑level requirements and develop functional architectures using Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

  • Lead integration across multi‑disciplined design teams to ensure a coherent and compliant power station design.

  • Undertake optioneering to evaluate and select design solutions that meet product requirements.

Essential Skills / Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in product or system‑level design and integration, solving complex challenges across multiple systems or disciplines.

  • A strong grounding in Systems Engineering methods, including requirements elicitation and derivation.
Experience with Capella or other MBSE/requirements management tools is desirable.

  • An engineering background in nuclear, power generation or another highly regulated sector.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience working across multi‑disciplined teams.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership in delivering product‑level or system‑level solutions.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary: £57,600 – £75,600 DOE

  • Bonus: 12.5% performance‑related target opportunity

  • Benefits Allowance: £2,200 per annum to build a bespoke package

  • Pension: 12% employer / 6% employee contributions

  • Holidays: 28 days + public holidays (with the option to buy or sell up to 4 days)

  • Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover

  • Life Assurance: 6× pensionable pay

  • Hybrid Working: Weekly attendance expected at either Manchester, Warrington or Derby

Why Join Us?

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking organisation that values transparency, fairness, and innovation. We offer:

•    A flexible, inclusive, and supportive working environment.
•    Opportunities for career growth in a rapidly scaling business.
•    A culture that values diversity, innovation, and continuous learning.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds. Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.

Also, if you are considering a career move or a sector-jump, please get in touch – we welcome applications from people with transferable skills.

Our Application Process

Due to the safety regulations within the nuclear industry, applicants will be required to participate in additional screening. These are:

•    Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
•    Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
•    Satisfactory completion of a basic financial probity check
