H9 Talent Solutions is recruiting a Power Systems Design Engineer for a renewable energy business delivering commercial and utility-scale solar projects.

You’ll take responsibility for HV and LV electrical design, working across grid connections, system studies and equipment specification from early design through to construction and energisation.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys combining detailed technical work with practical project delivery and direct engagement with network operators.

The role

* Develop HV/LV system designs, Single Line Diagrams and electrical system architecture.

* Manage grid connection applications and technical submissions to DNOs.

* Review connection offers and resolve technical queries.

* Undertake and coordinate load-flow, fault-level, protection-coordination and power-quality studies.

* Specify transformers, switchgear, inverters, protection systems and metering.

* Support protection philosophies and relay settings.

* Provide technical input into procurement, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and energisation.

* Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering.

What we’re looking for

* A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

* Proven HV/LV design experience within power generation.

* Direct experience managing grid connections and working with DNOs.

* A solid understanding of G99/G100 requirements, UK grid requirements and relevant ENA standards.

* Hands-on grid-study experience using ETAP or comparable modelling software.

* Experience producing and reviewing SLDs, protection philosophies and equipment specifications.

Solar PV experience is preferred. Relevant experience from other power-generation or grid-connection environments will also be considered.
