Practice Accountant

Job Title: Accountant
Location: York
Working Pattern: 9-day fortnight | Core hours 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Salary: £25,000 - £38,000 (DOE)

We are seeking a proactive and flexible Accountant to join a growing Accountancy Practice. This role requires someone who can effectively manage multiple priorities, deliver high-quality work to clients, and travel to client premises when necessary.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare statutory financial statements for a portfolio of small to medium-sized, owner-managed businesses.
• Perform tax computations in compliance with relevant legislation.
• Confidently use accountancy software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage, and Iris.
• Liaise with clients both remotely and on-site, building strong relationships and understanding of their needs.
• Manage workloads across competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Experience:
• Experience using accountancy software (Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage, Iris).
• ACA, ACCA or L4 AAT qualified
• Recent general practice background, with exposure to accounts and/or audit
• Exceptional organisational skills
• Proven experience of delivering excellent client service
• Be flexible and proactive in managing multiple priorities
• The ability to travel to clients’ premises as required deadline.
