Job Description - Practice Bookkeeper

Bookkeeper | £28,000–£35,000 DOE | North London | Office-BasedLooking for a stable, long-term role with variety and flexibility in how much you take on?

This single-partner accountancy firm has doubled in size over the past five years by focusing on what matters: meaningful client relationships, work-life balance, and continuous staff development.
They’re now looking for a capable Bookkeeper to join the team in a key support role. You’ll work closely with the Partner and wider team, handling core bookkeeping and tax duties while being a go-to contact for SME clients.
This is a genuinely down-to-earth team with a relaxed but focused approach to work. You’ll be encouraged to grow at your own pace—and won’t be pushed beyond your bandwidth.

What You’ll Be Doing

Day-to-day bookkeeping and reconciliations to trial balance
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Supporting with tax return preparation
Responding to client queries and providing helpful guidance
Liaising with HMRC when required
Informally supporting junior team members and apprentices

What They’re Looking For

At least 3 years in a similar bookkeeping or accounts role
Strong communication and client service skills
Confident using Sage (essential)
Comfortable with bookkeeping, VAT, and tax basics
Willing to be part of a small, collaborative team

The Offer

Salary: £28,000–£35,000 depending on experience
Location: Aylesbury
Progression: Flexibility to grow into more responsibility over time
