The Opportunity

We are working with an award-winning construction company with an excellent reputation across the industry, who are looking to appoint an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join their growing team in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pre-construction professional to take a leading role in the development and delivery of major projects, working closely with clients, consultants and internal teams from early design stages through to contract award.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple opportunities and will play a key role in ensuring bids are commercially, technically and strategically robust.

The Role

As Senior Pre-Construction Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the pre-construction process across a number of projects, typically overseeing 1–2 live bids at any one time.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading two-stage tender and PCSA processes from initial opportunity through to contract award.

Managing projects through RIBA Stages 2–4.

*

Taking ownership of the pre-construction programme, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are achieved.

*

Working closely with clients, architects, consultants and supply chain partners.

*

Acting as a key client-facing representative, developing strong and lasting relationships.

*

Coordinating design, commercial, planning, procurement and construction teams throughout the pre-construction phase.

*

Leading tender submissions, including buildability, programme, risk and value engineering considerations.

*

Identifying and managing pre-construction risks and opportunities.

*

Supporting the development of procurement strategies and early supply chain engagement.

*

Ensuring projects transition smoothly from pre-construction into delivery.

*

Providing leadership and mentoring to other members of the pre-construction team.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Pre-Construction Manager with a strong background working for a main contractor.

You will ideally have:

Significant experience within pre-construction management.

*

Strong experience delivering two-stage tenders and PCSA projects.

*

A thorough understanding of RIBA Stages 2–4.

*

Experience managing multiple bids/projects simultaneously.

*

Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

*

Strong technical and commercial understanding of the construction process.

*

The ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

*

Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

*

A proactive approach to identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.

*

Experience working on complex construction projects within a main contractor environment.

Most importantly, you will be confident operating at a senior level and comfortable taking ownership of the pre-construction process while building strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
